About Coconut Laddu

Coconut laddu is a small ball shaped Indian dessert made typically with coconut, milk and sugar. It has many variations across different regions of India, that goes on to prove that this delicacy is loved by all. These laddus are also made during Indian festivals and are also served as offerings to deities. Coconut laddus are easy to make and can be easily made at home. You can also use dry coconut and milk maid for a no fuss version. I have shared both the recipes here.

Coconut Laddu with fresh coconut

This coconut laddu is made with just 3 ingredients and is very beginner friendly.

These Laddus are made using fresh coconut instead of the dried ones thus take a little more time although they are still easy to make.

I have used the freshly grated coconut, you can opt for frozen one too but the taste may slightly differ.

To make laddoos with desiccated coconut, I have included instructions in the steps below in recipe card.

Description

This is an easy to make coconut laddu recipe wherein I have used freshly grated coconut. I love freshly grated coconut for this laddu/ laddoo because once cooked the coconut milk solidifies a bit and gives a goey texture to the laddus. I have used sweetened condensed milk thus additional sugar is not required. This is a great Indian sweets for Diwali parties or any such festive occasion and really quick to put together.

  3. Stir and roast the coconut till some of the moisture is dried up, around 3-5 mins without letting the coconut get brown.
  4. Once roasted, add the condensed milk and cardamom powder and give it a good mix.
  5. Stir on low heat and once the mixture starts getting thick stir non stop till you see the mixture leaving the sides to gather in centre.
